May 11, 2005 — The Pleasant Valley girls win seven events at the Mountain Valley Conference Track & Field championship meet to capture their third straight team title. Kati Dempsey accounts for three of those firsts by sweeping the jumping events. She leaps 5-4 to take the high jump, 16-7 in the long and 34-1 1/2 in the triple. Others to earn gold include Amy Hosking (100), Kelly Whitenack (400), Lindsey Makuvec (3200) and Erica Drozd (shot put). The PV boys receive firsts from Steve Parisi (800) and Lucas Souza (triple jump). Lehighton also places a number of athletes on top of the podium, including Dan Miller (discus, high jump), Shane Rothermel (110 hurdles), Christine Fairchild (800), Hailey Neff (1600) and the 3200 relay team.
