State police at Frackville

State police at the Frackville barracks reported the following incidents:

• Police were called to a report of endangering the welfare of a child on Coal Street, Middleport.

They said the incident was reported to have occurred at 5:18 p.m. April 24.

• Two New Ringgold residents, a man and woman, both 71, are the victims of a theft police are investigating.

They were called to South Race Street, East Brunswick Township, where it was determined the two were defrauded of $5,000 in a check incident that occurred on April 23.

The check was drawn on M&T Bank, police said.

• Kyle Merenda, 31, of Barnesville, was cited with retail theft after police were called to the Dollar General Store, Barnesville, at 2:32 p.m. April 20.

Police said that he was observed by an employee placing a pack of candy in his sweatshirt pocket while drinking a protein shake, then leaving the store without paying for the merchandise.

The items were valued at $5.50, police said.

• Police are investigating a theft case that was reported on Barnesville Drive, Ryan Township.

They said an involved party brought a 2006 Honda Accord to Eagle Auto for inspection-related services after which it was discovered between 3 p.m. April 17 and 10:28 a.m. April 18 that the previously placed inspection and emission stickers were fraudulent.

• Police are investigating an aggravated indecent assault report they received through the ChildLine network.

The report, which came in at 12:05 p.m. April 15, indicated the incident took place on Evergreen Drive, Walker Township.

Police said a victim of the incident is a 33-year-old woman.

The report remains under investigation, police said.

• Police were called to a possible fraud incident at 8 a.m. Jan. 20 to the Morea Road, West Mahanoy Township.

They said an 89-year-old man from Frackville and Prudential Financial, Newark, New Jersey, are the victims.

• Police said a 46-year-old man from Somerset is the victim of a harassment by physical contact incident they responded to at 6:16 p.m. Dec. 21, 2025, at the State Correctional Institute at Frackville, Altamont Boulevard, Ryan Township.

The case is being investigated in accordance with the Prison Rape Elimination Act.
