Members of V.F.W. Post 8008 and its ladies auxiliary held their annual Loyalty Day ceremony yesterday in Nesquehoning.

Participants included Commander Don DeMarco; Chaplain Ted Dacey; auxiliary President Vera Yaniga; and Carbon County Veterans Affairs Director Charles McHugh.

Honors were bestowed upon several area residents, including Layne Roberts, Americanism Award; Panther Creek Cogeneration Plant, Business Award; and Sean McConnon, who was presented a social member award.

Other speakers included Joe Higgins, who spoke about the VFW awards, and Cheri Santore, a former auxiliary president.

Nesquehoning Mayor Tony Walck read a Loyalty Day Proclamation that he sponsored.
