State police at Fern Ridge
State police at the Fern Ridge barracks reported the following incidents:
• A 37-year-old Pocono Summit man is facing drug possession charges after police made a traffic stop at 10:38 a.m. on March 30.
He was stopped in a 2014 Jeep Grand Cherokee on Interstate 80 in Kidder Township.
• A 27-year-old Hazleton man is facing charges of drug possession after police made a traffic stop at 10:09 p.m. on March 23.
He was stopped in a 2025 Hyundai Sonata for Title 75 violations in a construction zone on Interstate 80 in East Side Borough.
• Police were summoned to a “found or surrendered firearm” incident at 2:38 p.m. on April 3.
They said a U-Haul van was returned to a business on Switzgabel Drive, Chestnuthill Township, when an employee discovered a firearm left behind the passenger seat of the van.
The Connecticut Valley Arms Hunterbolt Magnum, .45-caliber, valued at $100, is being returned to the proper owner, police said.
• Police were called to a case of an unauthorized use of a vehicle at 12:31 a.m. on April 15 at 288 Eldorado Drive, Chestnuthill Township.
They said Corey Harris, 56, of Effort, reported a 16-year-old boy drove his 2007 Infiniti G35 from his residence without his permission.
Police said Harris declined prosecution of the youth.
• Police were called to a theft incident on April 13.
It occurred on Sycamore Circle, Penn Forest Township. Police did not provide any other details of the incident.
• Police said they were summoned to a death investigation on April 13 at 320 Wild Creek Drive, Penn Forest Township.They did not provide any other details of the incident, but said an investigation is ongoing.
• Police were called to a theft incident at 6:15 p.m. on April 13 on Route 209, Chestnuthill Township.
They did not provide any details of the incident.
• Officers were called to a harassment report at 2:02 p.m. on April 13 on Route 115 in Chestnuthill Township.
They said the call came in through a ChildLine report concerning the welfare of a child.
• Police received a ChildLine report concerning a victim’s welfare at 10:13 a.m. on April 13.
The report indicated the incident occurred on Silver Maple Road, Chestnuthill Township.
• Police responded to a scattering rubbish report at 6:15 p.m. on April 12.
It occurred on Old Stage Road, Penn Forest Township, when someone threw a bag of trash onto the roadway.
• The driver of a vehicle police stopped at 7:54 p.m. on April 11 on Interstate 80 for a traffic violation is facing charges of driving under the influence and possession of a controlled substance. It occurred at mile marker 276.7 in Kidder Township.
• A 29-year-old Saylorsburg woman and a 36-year-old man from Wantagh, New York, were cited for harassment by physical contact after police responded to an inactive domestic incident at 2:58 p.m. on April 17.
Police said it occurred on Terrace Drive, Chestnuthill Township.
They said the man and woman are both listed in the incident report as victims and arrestees.
