A Pennsylvania State Police Troop N Major Case Team and a Special Emergency Response Team were activated Wednesday night in Hamilton Township after a man shot a woman and then turned the gun on himself.
State police at the Stroudsburg barracks said they were summoned around 7:35 to a residence on Smith Road in the township for a domestic disturbance in which shots were reported to have been fired.
Police said upon arrival, troopers established a perimeter and attempted to hail the occupants out of the residence, but all attempts being unsuccessful. They said a search warrant was obtained and executed by members of the SERT team, who entered the residence and found the two persons deceased.
Police said through their investigation, it was determined the incident was a murder-suicide.
The investigation is ongoing, police said.
