Franklin Township supervisors

Franklin Township supervisors took the following action recently:

• Accepted the resignation of Anthony Frantz from the township’s planning commission.

• Tabled the Kruger/Crabtree plan review No. 2, and then approved a 90-day time extension.

• Adopted resolutions approving the Franklin Township Volunteer Fire Company’s 2026 planned activity list and operational support activities for participating members of the Franklin Township Volunteer Fire Company for the year 2026.

• Appointed Buckno Lisicky & Co., PC-CPA, in place of the elected auditors to examine all township accounts for 2025.

• Adopted a resolution establishing fees for hearing before the Franklin Township Zoning Hearing Board.

• Adopted a resolution for use of escalator clause for all bituminous materials and petroleum product purchase contracts either bid or entered from Jan. 1, 2026 to Dec. 31, 2026.

• Approved the request from Lehighton Area High School for the Franklin Township fire police to assist with traffic control for graduation at Lehighton Area High School on June 9 (Event at 7 p.m.) from 5 to 8:30 p.m., with rain dates of June 10 and June 11.

• Approved the request from Palmerton Borough for the Franklin Township fire police to assist with traffic control from 8 a.m. to 6 p.m. at the Airing of the Quilts event on May 2.

• Approved the request from Palmerton Borough for the Franklin Township fire police to assist with traffic control at the Raising the House 5K from 7:30 a.m. to 11 a.m. on May 9.

• Announced that the Stocked Ponds located at Phifer’s Ice Dam Park will be closed to anyone older than 15 years beginning May 1 at 12 a.m. and remain closed until June 1 at noon.
