State police at Lehighton

State police at the Lehighton barracks reported the following incidents:

• A 42-year-old Weatherly woman is facing charges of driving under the influence of alcohol and/or a controlled substance after police made a traffic stop at 1:39 a.m. April 13.

She was stopped in a 2021 Kia Rio for a Motor Vehicle Code violation in Alley G, Palmerton.

• Police said a 72-year-old man from Valley View Acres Drive, Towamensing Township, arrived at their barracks at 9:30 a.m. April 13 to report a theft/crime by deception incident.

He told police an unknown person requested $59,000 via a treasurer’s check from him.

Police said the man did not lose any money in the incident.

• A 49-year-old Palmerton man is facing charges of driving under the influence of a controlled substance and possession of a controlled substance after police made a traffic stop at 12:57 p.m. April 13.

He was stopped in a 2007 Mazda3 on Covered Bridge Road, Lower Towamensing Township.

Police said the man also had an active warrant out against him and was taken into custody.

• Ricky Chobotor, 55, of Saylorsburg, was cited for harassment by physical contact after police responded to a domestic disturbance at 3:36 p.m. April 12 on Vista Drive, Ross Township.

A 54-year-old woman from Saylorsburg told police that her hand was slammed in an exterior door during an argument with Chobotor.

Police said the woman was transported to the St. Luke’s Hospital, Monroe Campus, to be evaluated.

• A 25-year-old Slatington man is facing charges of driving under the influence of alcohol and/or a controlled substance.

Police said that at 1:42 a.m. April 11 he was found unresponsive in the driver’s seat of a 2014 Volkswagen in Alley F, Palmerton. Police said the engine of the vehicle was running at the time.

They said the man was also charged with possession of controlled substance.
