An Albrightsville man has been charged after police say he threatened a couple with gun while golfing Thursday afternoon in Butler Township.
Butler Township police officers were dispatched at around 2:15 p.m. to Sand Springs Golf Course for a report of a disturbance involving a man threatening to shoot a husband and wife.
According to a criminal complaint, John Francis Aquaviva, 28, became involved in an argument with the couple after playing too closely behind them and refusing their offer to play through.
During the dispute, they said Aquaviva struck a golf ball in their direction and stated, “I have a 9 mm with your name on it.” The couple called 911 and police found a 9 mm handgun inside Aquaviva’s vehicle.
Aquaviva was charged with terroristic threats and simple assault.
He was arraigned before duty Magisterial District Judge Allison Antolick and committed to the Luzerne County Prison in lieu of $5,000 bail.
Aquaviva is scheduled to have a preliminary hearing next month in Luzerne County Central Court.
