Over 570 walkers took part in the Fourth Annual Carbon County March of Dimes WalkAmerica held Saturday in Franklin Township.
Marie Johns McCall of TV-13 Eyewatch News served as honorary chairperson for the event, cutting the ceremonial ribbon at the start of the walk at the Beltzville State Park.
Among the dignitaries who participated were Peter Kern and Robert Clark, administrators of the Palmerton and Gnaden Huetten hospitals, respectively; Paul Balski, chairman of the executive committee; Pete Delich and Wilbur Bauchspies, mayors of Palmerton and Lehighton, respectively; Ron Solt, chairman of the Franklin Township Board of Supervisors; George Stausberger, Franklin Township police chief; and Carbon County Sheriff Peter P. Hoherchak.
Representatives of the local Lions and Lioness clubs participated in the walk.
