Tamaqua Seniors
The Tamaqua Senior Citizens met on April 16 with 27 members present.
President Jean Machamer opened the meeting. The invocation, “Morning Prayer,” was recited. A moment of silence was held for a member.
A member won kitchen items that were chanced off. Five members are celebrating birthdays in April. Cookies for a member’s birthday were distributed.
Refreshments were served and the meeting closed. Bingo and cards were played.
The group meets at 1 p.m. Thursdays at the Coaldale Complex.
Rummage sale
A rummage sale will be held from 5-8 p.m. May 1 and from 8 a.m. to 1 p.m. May 2 at Trinity United Church of Christ, 22 Lafayette St., Tamaqua. The kitchen will be open.
Calvary Lewistown
Pastor Debra Rogers will oversee the 11 a.m. Sunday worship service at Calvary Evangelical Church in the Lewistown Valley. A children’s message will be part of the service, and special music will be provided. Sunday school for all ages is at 9:45 a.m. The Sunday evening service is at 6:30 p.m. Come and plan to share your faith through music and word.
The Wednesday prayer hour is at 7 p.m.
St. Peter’s — West Penn
The Sunday worship service at St. Peter’s Church in West Penn is at 9 a.m. Adult Sunday school is at 10:15 a.m.
The Cherub Choir meets at 6 p.m. April 30.
The May 3 service will include the Sacrament of Holy Communion.
Zion Lewistown
Zion Men will meet at 8 a.m. Saturday in Memorial Hall at Zion Church in Lewistown Valley.
Pastor Jim Williams will officiate the 10:30 a.m. Sunday service. Sunday school is at 9:30 a.m.
Rummage sale
St. John UCC, 150 Pine St., Tamaqua, will have a rummage sale in its fellowship hall from 9 a.m. to 2 p.m. on May 2 and 4.
The sale includes household items, jewelry, books, electronics, holiday decorations, clothing for men, women and children, and much more.
