State police at Bethlehem - crashes

State police at the Bethlehem barracks reported the following crashes:

• Brennan Shaner, 18, of Breinigsville, was cited after a two-vehicle crash at 9:18 a.m. April 18 at the intersection of Old Post and Clearview roads, North Whitehall Township.

Police said he was driving a 2012 Hyundai Elantra west on Clearview Road when he proceeded into the intersection with Old Post Road without having proper clearance. The Elantra hit the front of a 2006 BMW 550i that was driven north on Old Post Road by Steven Ratmansky, 23, of Slatington, then spun and left the roadway. It landed in a grass area and hit a traffic sign.

Police said both vehicles had disabling damage.

Madison G. Pozzi, 19, of Coplay, who was a passenger with Ratmansky, had suspected minor injuries and was transported by personnel from the Northern Valley ambulance to the Lehigh Valley Hospital, Cedar Crest Campus, Salisbury Township, police said.

Shaner and Ratmansky were uninjured, according to police.

• Mark C. Smith, 71, of Schnecksville, and a Slatington man both had suspected minor injuries after a two-vehicle crash at 7 p.m. April 15 on Route 309 in North Whitehall Township.

Police said the drivers did not require emergency medical services transports from the scene.

They said the incident occurred when Smith was driving a 2005 Honda Pilot that struck the back of a 2020 Chevrolet Equinox operated by the Slatington man after he had slowed down for traffic.

Police said the Pilot had disabling damage.

Smith was cited for failure to drive at a safe speed, according to police.
