Palmerton photographer Andy Mihalik has been honored with two national public service awards by the National press Photographers Association.

A Pencor employee, Mihalik has been a Times News contributing photographer for the past 12 years.

He has been selected to receive the 1990 Bootstrap Award, the highest award given by Region 3 of the NPPA, and next month will receive the Morris Berman NPPA Citation given each year to an individual or organization who has significantly advanced the interest of photojournalism.

Mihalik served 10 years as secretary-treasurer of the Pennsylvania Photo Press Association and was instrumental in working with Hazleton photo chief David Haupt in revitalizing the association in 1990.
