Pleasant Valley grad Nagle to be honored

Pleasant Valley graduate Kevin Nagle will be one of six inductees into this year’s Lehigh Valley-Pocono Sports Hall of Fame.

Others to be honored include Easton’s Chanelle Price (track), Northampton’s Greg Vogel (baseball), Easton’s Jim Haney (official), Allentown’s Dennis McGinley (swimming & diving) and Liberty’s Tom Donchez (football).

The induction ceremony and dinner will be held Saturday, May 9 at the Northampton Banquet and Event Center in Northampton. The event is sponsored by St. Luke’s University Health Network.

Nagle, who graduated from PV in 1993 and from East Stroudsburg University in 2000, was a first-team Centennial League tight end and linebacker who made a quick adjustment to the college game.

He was named first team All-Pennsylvania State Athletic Conference East as a freshman, an honor he earned four years in a row. He led ESU in tackles each year from 1997 through 2000, and ranks second in school history with 447 career tackles, including 47 tackles for a loss. He had double-figure tackles in 20 consecutive games at one point.

Nagle was named to Don Hansen’s Football Gazette All-America team as a junior and senior, and was chosen to play in the Cactus Bowl following his senior season.

Nagle’s play in college landed him in preseason camp as a non-drafted free agent with the Washington Redskins prior to the 2001 season. He wound up playing seven seasons in the Arena Football League, beginning with the Wilkes-Barre/Scranton Pioneers in AF2.
