Parryville fills vacant borough council seat
The Parryville Borough Council welcomed two new faces at its meeting Monday.
New member Aprille Roeder, who took the oath of office following the March 16 meeting, was officially appointed to the board under Resolution 2026-002, provided by borough solicitor Robert Frycklund.
Also introduced to council was Marvin “Marv” Walton of Keystone Consulting Engineers, who was welcomed as the Keystone representative for Parryville. Keystone was appointed at the reorganizational meeting to handle zoning code enforcement and building code duties.
“I am the project manager for Parryville, along with several other municipalities,” Walton said. “Glad to be here, glad to serve you any way we can.
“There are a couple code enforcement issues to deal with, as (council president) Jason (Smith) mentioned. We’ll be working with (borough administrator) Nicole (Beckett) to see what ordinances are in place in order to address specific property issues.”
Walton also pointed out that in Keystone does not actually offer the building code officer service; however, it is partnering with Advance Code Services, which can serve as the residential and commercial building code official (BCO).
Council passed a motion to appoint Advance Code Services to that position. Another motion was passed to authorize execution of the BCO form to the Pennsylvania Department of Labor & Industry.
Council also passed Resolution 2026-003, the Adoption of the 2026 UCC Fee Schedule, as provided by Keystone Consulting Engineers.
A road project is scheduled for Cherry Alley in Parryville. Bruce George Paving & Excavating, Kunkletown, was awarded the bid for the Community Development Block Grant project by the county, with a bid of $188,593.89. That water/sewer improvement project is slated to begin in June. Cherry Alley runs about 530 feet between Oak and Pine streets, parallel to Center Street.
Council also approved Resolution 2026-001, the Towamensing Township Intergovernmental Agreement.
In addition, council voted to move the May general meeting to May 11, at 6 p.m., in the borough office. There will be no meeting May 18.
