Local roundup: Results from April 20

Weatherly’s baseball and softball teams both picked up wins on Monday.

The victory was the first of the season for the Wreckers’ baseball squad.

Northwestern also gained a pair of wins, having success in both softball and boys lacrosse.

BASEBALL

Becahi-Pleasant Vy.

Pleasant Valley used a seven-run third inning to help earn a 10-5 EPC victory over Bethlehem Catholic.

Ty Borger slugged a two-run homer in the third, which featured five PV hits, two walks and an error.

The Bears, who are 3-2 in their last five games, also received a solo homer from Gavin Bates, while Owen Walters finished with a pair of hits and a run.

Lehighton-Southern Lehigh

Southern Lehigh plated eight runs in the first inning and cruised to a 15-0 Colonial League victory over Lehighton.

Spartan leadoff hitter Parker Grady reached base all four times at bat, including three hits. He scored two runs and knocked in three.

The winners, who are atop the CL standings, also received three hits and four RBIs from Gabe Moscato.

Konner Nalesnik and Aidan Solt both accounted for the Indians’ two hits.

Linc. Leadership-Weatherly

Jeremiah Donadi’s arm and bat helped Weatherly earn its first victory of the season — an 8-4 non-league win over Lincoln Leadership.

Donadi went the distance on the mound to earn the win. He struck out eight, walked none and only allowed one earned run.

Donadi also helped his caused at the plate with two hits, a walk, and two runs.

The Wreckers finished with 11 stolen bases, with Bradlee Connors and Donadi each swiping three.

Emilio Valenzuela and Raymond Montz both had two hits for Weatherly.

Pottsville-Tamaqua

Pottsville’s Dominic Rynard pitched a five-inning no-hitter as the Crimson Tide posted a 14-0 Schuylkill League victory over Tamaqua.

Rynard, who walked one and struck out 12, also slugged a solo homer in the fifth inning. He finished with two hits, three runs and two RBIs.

The winners also received a 3-for-3 performance and four runs scored from Landon Trout.

Ceanna Gormley pitched a three-inning one-hitter as Tamaqua rolled to a 15-0 non-league win over Executive Education.

Gormley registered eight of her nine outs by strikeout and also collected a hit, two runs and an RBI on offense.

Peyton Faust ended with a pair of hits, one a double, scored twice and knocked in two runs, while Naomi Knitter added a triple and three RBIs.

Linc. Leadership-Weatherly

Weatherly only had three hits, but took advantage of seven walks and eight Lincoln Leadership errors to gain a 16-1 non-league victory.

Abby Binder allowed just one hit in three innings, striking out nine, to earn the pitching win.

Madison Makowiec hit a three-run homer during the Wreckers’ 10-run first inning. Cortney Snyder added a hit, two runs and an RBI for the winners, while Abby Weston scored three times.

Natalie Conner had a big day at the plate to help lead Northwestern to a 15-0 Colonial League victory over Catasauqua.

Conner finished 3-for-3 with a triple, two runs and three RBIs.

Lily Kinnon added a pair of hits and two runs, while Lexie Zentz delivered a two-run single during the Tigers’ six-run first inning.

Lizzie Diehl allowed just one hit in three innings, striking out three.

BOYS LACROSSE

Freedom-Northwestern

Northwestern rallied for an 8-7 non-league victory over Freedom.

The Tigers trailed 5-4 heading into the final period, but scored four times in the fourth quarter to gain the win, their fourth in the last five games.

Tyler Kaas finished with three goals for Northwestern, while Kendall Wickert and Grayson Christman both added two.

Wickert also recorded a pair of assists. Trey Snyder had three helpers, and Brayden Uricchio chipped in with a goal and an assist.
