Slatington Police Chief William Borst presented Officer Kevin Torres with a Certificate of Commendation for a 911 call on March 10 in the borough.
According to Borst, “When Officer Torres arrived there was a suicidal male at the residence. There was no information of any kind related to Officer Torres about a weapon. The man was in a small room threatening suicide. Torres was able to talk with him and got him to drop the knife.”
Mayor Jeralyn Schoch, speaking via phone, said, “I want to thank you for what you did, for your bravery. You deserve this award.” The award was presented to Torres at Monday’s borough council meeting.
