CCTI guidance counselor retiring

The Joint Operating Committee of the Carbon Career & Technical Institute, Jim Thorpe, voted to accept the letter of resignation for the purpose of retirement it received from Eugene Colosimo, CCTI guidance counselor.

Colosimo’s resignation is effective June 30.

“I would like to thank all of the students and parents that I served for the past 14 years,” Colosimo said at the committee’s recent meeting. “I hope to see everyone at CCTI Open House events in the future.”

“I worked very closely with Gene,” said Christine Trovato, facilitator of special education. “He knows everything; he’s like a walking encyclopedia. They’re going to be big shoes to fill.”

David Reinbold, administrative director, spoke about Colosimo’s dedication.

“He had a big interest in technical education, and in careers in general, and how the students fit into the work world,” Reinbold said. “We will miss Gene; we used to call him the hardest working man in show business. He would be here until 7 o’clock at night; we’d walk by his office and his light would be on, he would still be there, banging on the computer.

“We’re definitely going to miss him.”

Colosimo shared his plans for retirement.

“I will be taking care of my father, volunteering for my church, Our Lady of the Rosary Parish in Carbondale, trout fishing, and when I am able to, attend some concerts and do some U.S. travel on the West Coast,” he said.
