Local roundup: Results from April 15
Marian needed every bit of 13 innings — and one big swing from Chase Grier — to finally put away Minersville on Wednesday.
BASEBALL
Marian-Minersville
Chase Grier’s three-run single highlighted a five-run outburst as Marian outlasted Minersville, 10-9, in a 13-inning Schuylkill League tilt.
Chase Quinn-Gutsie had a big game, collecting three hits and two RBIs while stealing five bases. Noah Bauder went 3-for-6 with an RBI and two stolen bases. Roman Bednarek added two hits, two RBIs and two stolen bases.
Brayden Grant added two hits, and the Colts swiped 10 bases. Minersville dropped its fourth straight.

Lehighton-Catasauqua
Alex Bolmer fired a two-hitter to lead Catasauqua to a 5-1 victory over Lehighton in a Colonial League contest.
Bolmer, who struck out four and walked two, and Trever Hartzell had two hits apiece for Catasauqua. The Rough Riders plated single runs in each of the first four innings and stole eight bases.
Jayse Lawrence and Brock Atwood both singled for Lehighton.

A seven-run first inning propelled Southern Lehigh to a 15-4 runaway victory over Northern Lehigh.
In Colonial League action, the Spartans jumped out early thanks to RBI singles from Jeremy Yeakel-Mendez and Chase Woodring. Evan Przyuski keyed the inning with a three-run home run.
Woodring, meanwhile, kept the Bulldogs’ bats in check, striking out eight, walking two and allowing just two earned runs to earn the win.
Pablo Rivera was the Bulldogs’ lone multiple hitter, finishing with two singles.
Northern Lehigh returns to action Friday, hosting Jim Thorpe in another league contest.

Northwestern-Palisades
Northwestern stormed out to a 7-0 lead and went on to a 12-8 victory over Palisades in a Colonial League clash.
Cannon Fitch blasted a three-run homer in the fifth that gave Northwestern a 10-4 advantage. Fitch scored three runs, drew three walks, and stole a base.
Ethan Konyak had two hits and three RBIs, Cole Dynda had two hits and two RBIs, and Evan Fatzinger added two hits for the Tigers.
Jake Carlson and Lucian Sterling each swiped two bases, as Northwestern recorded 10 stolen bases overall.

Palmerton-Salisbury
Salisbury’s Markus Jones had a two-run single in the top of the seventh to lift the Falcons to a 3-2 victory over Colonial League foe Palmerton.
Gavin McGowan hit a homer to tie the game at 1-1 in the bottom of the second, and Jason Carrelli gave Palmerton a 2-1 lead in the sixth on a solo homer.
Cameron Pengelly surrendered two runs on six hits, striking out 11 and walking one.

SOFTBALL
Saucon Valley-Jim Thorpe
Matty Seyfried threw a complete-game one-hit shutout as Saucon Valley rolled to a 9-0 Colonial League victory over Jim Thorpe.
Seyfried, the Panthers’ ace, retired 12 straight batters to start the game. She struck out 13 and walked one to earn the win.
Isabella Sully broke up the perfect game in the fifth, drawing a walk on five pitches. Julianna Frantz followed by breaking up the no-hitter with a single to right field.
Teammate Hannah Zacharies also reached base in the sixth on a throwing error.
Ryan Gall sparked the Panthers’ offense, going 3-for-4 with three singles, three runs scored and an RBI.

Lehighton-Catasauqua
Amber Yeakel hit an inside-the-park home run and collected three hits overall to lead Lehighton to a 14-4 victory over Catasauqua in Colonial League play.
Along with Yeakel, Sophia Wise had two hits and also hit an inside-the-park homer in the first inning, when the Indians scored three runs.
Dakota Markley had three hits and three RBIs, and Morgan Myers added two hits and two RBIs.
Ava Trach allowed eight hits and four runs, striking out six.
Lehighton, which snapped a three-game losing streak, also benefited from seven Catasauqua errors.

Southern Lehigh capitalized on eight Northern Lehigh errors to earn an 11-5 Colonial League victory.
Paige Bowman led the Spartans offensively, finishing a home run shy of the cycle while driving in four runs.
Demi Lewis also contributed, collecting three singles, scoring twice and driving in a run from the No. 4 spot.
The Bulldogs didn’t go quietly, scoring three runs in the fourth inning. Addison Smith keyed the two-out rally with a two-run double, while Annalisa Douglas added an RBI single.
Smith was the Bulldogs’ lone multiple hitter, finishing with a single, double, a run scored and two RBIs.

Palisades-Northwestern
Northwestern made it four in a row, needing just five innings to cruise to a 10-0 victory over visiting Palisades.
While the Tigers provided plenty of run support, Northwestern pitcher Ainsley Behler was sharp in the circle. She struck out six, walked none and allowed just three hits in the shutout.
Abby Dunstan fulfilled her role as the Tigers’ cleanup hitter, sparking the opening inning with a three-run home run. She also added a single and scored a run.
Teammate Emma Freeman contributed at the plate with two singles, a run scored and three RBIs.

Palmerton-Salisbury
Salisbury jumped out to an early lead and went on to hand previously unbeaten Palmerton a 7-2 loss in a Colonial League matchup.
Julia Carney drove in three runs, and Giann Olds collected three hits for Salisbury.
Jaylin Strohl had three of Palmerton’s seven hits. Hailey Barry scattered seven hits, allowing five runs while striking out five over two innings.
Samantha Wolfe threw five innings in relief, allowing five hits and two runs while striking out four.
