Tamaqua man who has history of burning food cited by police

A Tamaqua man who frequently burns food was cited by borough police.

Police charged Ramnarine Ganesh, 49, with disorderly conduct following an April 2 incident.

According to police, officers and the Tamaqua Fire Department were dispatched to the unit block of Vine Street for an odor investigation after a caller reported smelling smoke. Police said they had been at the location multiple times over the past year for the same type of report.

Police said they knocked on Ganesh’s apartment door and he answered after several minutes.

Ganesh told police that he had burned food earlier. Police said that they had been called to Ganesh’s apartment before because Ganesh burned food after falling asleep. They noted that the fire department had been called to ventilate the building. Ganesh blamed it on his stove.

Officers said Ganesh needs to stop burning food because it takes emergency resources away from actual emergencies. He was told that if it happens again, he will face more severe charges.
