Man charged with assault of girlfriend in Towamensing

A Blakeslee man has been charged with the alleged assault of his girlfriend.

According to the affidavit of probable cause filed by Trooper Julian Stires of the Pennsylvania State Police, Lehighton barracks, in the case against Tyrrell Ogletree Jr.:

At 2:52 p.m. Monday, Stires was dispatched to the report of a domestic disturbance in the 900 block of Trachsville Hill Road, Towamensing Township.

Stires met with the woman, and the defendant, Ogletree, 23, at the residence.

Ogletree advised that he and his girlfriend were in an argument, and he grabbed her by the jacket, but was unsure of how long he held her as he blacked out during the interaction.

Stires went inside the residence to speak with the woman, who said that she had gotten into an argument with her boyfriend, Ogletree, while walking into the residence.

The woman said that Ogletree grabbed her by the shirt, preventing her from walking into the residence.

She said that she tried to get away but was pushed up against a parked vehicle in the driveway.

The woman said that Ogletree grabbed her by the throat, causing her to have trouble breathing. She had bruises on her neck.

Stires took Ogletree into custody. He faces charges of strangulation, simple assault and harassment.

He is currently free after posting 10% of $25,000 bail, and scheduled to have a preliminary hearing April 8 before District Judge William J. Kissner of Palmerton.
