Liquor and wine sales in Carbon County liquor stores last year climbed 2.303 percent over the previous year’s totals.
The state Liquor Control Board said sales in the county’s seven stores totaled $1,042,195, compared to $1,018,733 in 1962.
The county ranks 36th out of 67 counties in the volume of alcoholic beverages sold.
The Palmerton store led the way in sales with $256,341 worth of alcohol sold, followed by the Lehighton store at $251,803, while the Lansford store ranked third with sales amounting to $216,186.
The other four stores in the county are Summit Hill, $95,926; Jim Thorpe, $88,341; Summit Hill, $95,926; Nesquehoning, $82,996; and Weatherly, $50,398.
