Tamaqua graduate and two-time Times News/Lehigh Valley Health Network Baseball Player of the Year Mason Ligenza helped the Pitt Panthers baseball team score the second-most runs in program history on Tuesday.
The former Blue Raider standout drilled a three-run homer in the fifth inning of Pitt’s 27-3 victory over Mercyhurst. It was the most runs scored by a Panthers’ team since 1953.
Ligenza’s blast, his second of the season, traveled 465 feet.
So far this season, in limited playing time, Ligenza is 3-for-8 with three runs and seven RBIs. All three of his hits are for extra bases.
Pitt currently has a 20-7 record, including a mark of 5-4 in the ACC.
