Art center showcases Tamaqua student art this month
A variety of art — all created by Tamaqua Area High School students — will be featured during the month of April at the Tamaqua Arts Center.
The young artists will be on hand for an Artist Meet and Greet from 5:30-7:30 p.m. Thursday at the 125 Pine St. center. The event is free and open to all.
The artists are students in Dana Ayers and Abby Shumgart’s art classes.
“We will have between 70 and 100 pieces of art on display, including drawings, paintings, sculptures, ceramics, photography, printmaking and more,” Shumgart noted.
About 50 students’ works will be featured in the show.
The high school has a wide variety of art education classes, including two-dimensional art, three-dimensional art, photography and graphic art.
During the school year the students created projects and designs for the art show.
“We would be so appreciative if you could come out and support our students,” Shumgart said.
It is the art center’s first gallery show of the year.
