State police at Lehighton

State police at the Lehighton barracks reported the following incidents:

• A 26-year-old Palmerton woman is facing charges of driving under the influence of alcohol after police made a traffic stop at 2:15 a.m. March 29.

She was stopped in a 2023 Ford Bronco for a Motor Vehicle Code violation on Edgemont Avenue in Palmerton.

• A 67-year-old woman from Weissport was taken into custody and charged with assault (serious bodily injury) after police responded to an active domestic incident in that borough.

It happened at 11:06 a.m. Feb. 13 on Bridge Street.

• A 50-year-old Kunkletown woman reported a theft by deception/ATM card incident police responded to at 11:57 a.m. Feb. 12 on Woodchuck Drive, Towamensing Township.

She told police someone used her PayPal account to make several purchases at a Walmart store.

• Rachele Ostrowe, 43, of Jim Thorpe, was charged with retail theft (shoplifting) after police were called to the Walmart store on Blakeslee Boulevard Drive, Mahoning Township, at 7:04 p.m. March 10.

Police said she was caught trying to steal multiple items that valued $122.61. She was apprehended by the store’s asset protection personnel.
