Man charged after crashing into ditch, fleeing in Butler Twp.

A Scranton man is facing charges of public drunkenness and other offenses of “similar misconduct” after police in Butler Township, Luzerne County, were called to an incident on March 19 in the Beech Mountain Lakes area of the township.

Police said Landon D. Davis, 29, was taken into custody following the incident.

They said officers were called to Four Seasons Drive in the development around 2 a.m. after a vehicle was found in a ditch. Police were told a man claimed he “was on the run” and in possession of a firearm.

Police said witnesses told them the man, later identified as David, was bleeding when he fled into the woods. Police observed him a short time later, but Davis ran away a second time.

Police said they found him near a storage shed with the use of a drone. They said Davis was intoxicated and had a head injury, resulting in police calling for personnel from the Valley Regional EMS corps.

They said Davis became combative and jumped out of the ambulance near the Hazleton City Police Headquarters. He was taken into custody by city police, who remained with him in the ambulance on the way to the hospital.

Police said no firearm was located in the incident.
