Garden helpers needed

The Garden of Giving, near McMichaels on Route 715, will open Saturday, April 11, from 9:30 a.m. to 12:30 p.m.

Through April, the garden will be open Tuesdays, Thursdays and Saturdays. (Note: It will close in the event of rain.)

Helpers are still needed to assist with IT (knowledge of Google Docs) as well as with phone calls, and most importantly, someone who will apply for grants, which involves filling out applications to businesses and foundations, and telling them of the work that the garden does.

Those are year-round jobs, done in the comfort of the garden’s office.

The Garden of Giving thanks the people who volunteered in response to February’s news article, including a woman who will help with some of the IT issues, and a man who has offered to prune the now-mature fruit trees to allow for better fruiting.

But someone is needed to mow weekly and do the weed trimming.

A new addition at the garden is that packages of seeds will be available to purchase, including organic seeds, so folks can get ready to start their own vegetables, herbs and flowers.

The garden’s theme for 2026 will be “Acts of Kindness,” which is the very essence of volunteering.

For more information, contact the garden by phone at 570-402-1282 or email GardenofGiving1@gmail.com.

The garden is located at 2556 Rising Hill Drive, Saylorsburg.
