More than 1,000 people in Mahoning Township are without power after a crash in front of the Times News building, on Route 443.

One person was injured in the crash that occurred just after 7 p.m. Tuesday as the driver was traveling west on Route 443 and lost control entering the Times News property and snapping off a utility pole.

The vehicle came to rest on its side with the driver entrapped.

Members of the Mahoning Valley fire company extricated the driver from the wreckage.

The victim was treated at the scene by members of the Mahoning Valley ambulance and Lehighton paramedics before being transported to a nearby trauma center.

State police at Lehighton are investigating the incident.
