Hundreds of employees at a distribution center in the Highridge Industrial Park near Pottsville will soon be out of work.
A notice filed with the Pennsylvania Department of Labor & Industry’s Worker Adjustment and Retraining Notification (WARN) act notes that Saks & Company, LLC plans to close.
According to the notice, 435 employees will be impacted. Layoffs will begin May 3 and continue through May 31.
Saks Global, which owns Saks Fifth Avenue and Neiman Marcus, filed for Chapter 11 bankruptcy protection in January. Earlier this year, Saks Global announced that it would be closing the majority of its Saks OFF 5th retail stores and the remainder of its Last Call stores.
In February, WARN notices for Saks Fifth Avenue in Bala Cynwyd, Montgomery County, and Saks Fifth Avenue in Wilkes Barre, were filed. Those facilities will close and lay off a total of 205 employees beginning in April.
