Washington Twp. supervisors

Washington Township supervisors approved the following this week:

• A subdivision was approved for property at 9100 North Loop Road, allowing one existing parcel to be divided into three lots.

• The transfer and renewal of a junkyard license for 2026 for the 3-acre property at 6855 Old Grange Road, from Mark Yeanish to Lisa Yeanish.

• PPL was granted a utility easement to install a new pole at the intersection of Furnace and Mountain roads.

• Rich Conklin was hired as a part-time plow driver and snow removal employee at $20 per hour, with no benefits and overtime paid only after 40 hours in a week. Kim Hoffman was hired to maintain the Eagles Nest bathrooms for $200 per month, also with no benefits or overtime.

• Budgeted donations were made, $32,000 to the Emerald Fire Company, $5,000 to the Slatington Library and $1,000 to the Slatedale Playground Association.

• The supervisors approved an upgrade to Verizon services for two meters that report sewer flow into Slatington’s system. Cost of the project is $18,000, with a stipend ranging from $9,000 to $12,000, the borough’s share is expected to be between $6,000 and $9,000. Verizon will handle the installation.
