Fire breaks out in Lansford

Four adults and several children were displaced after a two-alarm fire on the 500 block of Lansford borough.

At approximately 2:30 Tuesday afternoon, a fire broke out in a third floor bedroom of a three-unit building on the 500 Block of Ridge Street in Lansford.

The fire was discovered by an occupant who immediately called 911 emergency services to report a fire in progress.

The occupant alerted his neighbors and have them evacuate the building.

Lansford Fire Company quickly responded.

Electrical power to the three-unit building was disconnected by PPL personnel.

Summit Hill, Nesquehoning, Jim Thorpe, Lehighton, Tamaqua and Tuscarora responded.

In addition, the Lansford Borough Road Department was on site.  Due to the extreme cold weather, they were positioned to treat the road with anti skid material which was necessary due to the excessive ice accumulation on the road.

Lehighton and Mahoning Valley ambulance squads were on scene. No injuries were reported.
