Promising to do his best to put Lansford back on track, Robert Silver on Tuesday accepted the position of mayor during a special council meeting held in the American Fire Co. No. 1.

Early in the brief meeting, it became apparent Silver’s appointment was almost a sure thing after it was revealed Dr. Elmer Heffelfinger removed his name from the list, leaving Silver as the sole person seeking the position. Previously, Carolyn Mikulka, John Racko and Mary Kruczek withdrew their names.

The new mayor said his first goal in office is to “reverse the negativity that’s been directed at the borough,” adding, “A lot of us were born and raised here and want to see it back to the way it was.”
