State police at Bethlehem

State police at the Bethlehem barracks reported the following incidents:

• Police were called to a retail theft at 7:51 a.m. Oct. 13 at the Sunoco gas station on Route 100, Heidelberg Township.

They said it was reported that five cartons of vape smoking devices worth $109.50 were stolen the previous day.

• A 53-year-old Slatington woman had $27,927.27 stolen from her in a theft case that occurred on Fury Court, Washington Township, that police are investigating.

She reported the incident at 4:53 p.m. Nov. 10, telling police an unknown actor remotely accessed her desktop computer. A customer service number appeared on her screen. She said she called the number and was informed that she had been hacked and was now involved in an overseas fraud case.

The actor told the woman that her bank account was compromised and that $27,927.27 was being used for child pornography. At the actor’s instructions, the woman went to the Coplay Mini-Mart, withdrew the money and deposited it in a Coinbase machine.

• Police were called to a natural death at 6:12 a.m. Nov. 30 on Main Street in Washington Township.

They said a 65-year-old man from Emerald was discovered dead in his residence by his wife and daughter.

• Christopher Ross, 37, of Germansville, is facing charges of driving under the influence of alcohol after police made a traffic stop at 5:31 p.m. Oct. 15.

He was stopped in a 2011 Lincoln Continental at the intersection of Heidelberg Heights and Meadowview roads, Heidelberg Township, police said.
