Bears’ Perry named EPC Pocono MVP in girls soccer

Pleasant Valley had five players named to the Eastern Pennsylvania Conference Pocono Division All-Star First Team, including the Player of the Year.

Marta Perry, a senior forward, was selected the division’s top player and joined four teammates on the First Team. They included senior defender Rylee Rath, senior goaliekeeper Sadie Rizzo, junior forward Peyton Foder and sophomore midfielder Keegan Merklin.

PV sophomore Bailey Clifford earned Second Team honors as a defender.

Perry registered 13 goals, including three hat tricks, in the five games against division teams. She also added six assists in those contests.

“Marta is the total package who can take a team on her back when needed and then unselfish play shines through as well, as she could have scored a lot more goals but chose to lay it off to her teammates,” said Bears head coach Tara Hyland. “She can play in any positions and has (forward, midfield, defense). She dominated every division game, and I can’t see another player more deserving of MVP this season.”
