Northwestern’s boys and girls soccer teams will both play in Saturday’s PIAA Class 2A quarterfinals at North Schuylkill High School.
The boys will face District 1 champion Faith Christian at 4 p.m., followed by the girls taking on D-4 champ Central Columbia at 6.
The Northwestern boys are coming off a 10-3 win over District 4 runner-up Midd-West in the first round, while Faith Christian advanced with a 1-0 double-overtime victory over District 3 champion Lancaster Catholic. The Tigers defeated Faith Christian 4-0 in last year’s quarterfinals.
The unbeaten Northwestern girls posted a 6-1 win over District 4 runner-up Troy in the first round. Central Columbia advanced with an 8-0 win over D-2 champion Wyoming Area.
The Tigers topped Central Columbia 4-0 this season on Aug. 23, and also earned a 5-2 win in last year’s quarterfinals.
Both Northwestern teams are defending state champions, and captured Colonial League and District 11 titles this season.
