ON THIS DATE OCTOBER 2, 1976

From a standpoint of gross income, Carbon County farmers have been producing more for their operators during the past two years than have farms and ranches in many parts of the country.

In terms of total receipts from farm operations in the county in the past year, the $2,312,000 outpaces the $1,793,000 from two years ago.

The numbers represent gross receipts before taking into account the cost of labor, seed, fertilizer, fuel, taxes and various other operational expenses.

The two-year increase, 28 percent, compares with 21 percent in the United States and 14 percent in the Mid-Atlantic states.
