Maple Spring Drive paving scheduled

Paving work along Maple Spring Drive in Slatington will begin later this month.

Northern Lehigh School District posted on its website, in conjunction with Slatington, that the borough will begin repaving on or around Oct. 27.

The project is expected to take about two weeks to complete, weather pending, and there may be temporary traffic restrictions, delays, or detours in place.

“We ask that all residents and visitors pay close attention to local signage posted throughout the area for up-to-date information regarding traffic flow, parking restrictions, and access to properties,” the message states. “We appreciate your cooperation and patience as we work to improve our community’s infrastructure.”

Anyone with questions or concerns may contact the borough office at 610-767-2131.

Last month, Slatington Borough Council awarded a $480,857 contract to Ronnie C. Folk Paving to completely rebuild Maple Spring Drive from Route 873 to Slatington Elementary School.

Residents say the road has long been plagued with ruts, potholes and noise.

The project will remove 10 inches of the existing road, add new base materials and finish with compacted asphalt for a smoother, more durable surface.
