Technology center hosts open house

Schuylkill Technology Center will host open house events at its North Campus, 101 Technology Drive, Frackville, and South Campus, 15 Maple Ave., Mar Lin, from 6-8 p.m. Wednesday.

The open houses are an opportunity for prospective students, current students, parents, industry partners and postsecondary colleges to come together to experience what career and technical education has to offer.

The theme for the event is “Work Ethic Matters,” to highlight professional qualities that STC strives to instill in its students.

At the South Campus, visitors can expect to tour the plumbing, welding, carpentry, residential industrial electricity, precision machine trades, auto collision, culinary, computer information systems, marketing and business administration, criminal justice, supply chain and warehouse distribution and cosmetology programs.

The campus will have hands-on activities in each program area available for prospective students to get a better sense of the type of training they will receive.

At the North Campus, visitors can expect to tour the diesel, automotive technology, outdoor power technology, masonry, carpentry, electromechanical technology, health careers, emerging health professions, culinary, early childhood care and education programs.

The campus will showcase its new heating, ventilation and air conditioning program, and adult education program staff will meet with prospective adult learners interested in commercial driver’s license training, automotive technology, medical assisting and practical nursing.
