Hawk Mountain trip
Monroe County Conservation District’s Kettle Creek Environmental Education Center is offering a trip to Hawk Mountain in Kempton on Friday. Activities will include bird-watching, hiking, exploring the mountain trails and learning about raptors in their natural habitat. The bus will depart the center at 8 a.m. and return by 3 p.m. Participants should pack binoculars, a lunch and something to drink.

‘Precious junk’
Zion Lutheran Church, Brodheadsville, is hosting a “Precious Junk” sale Friday and Saturday.
Doors open at 10 a.m. and close at 2 p.m.
Items available include: housewares, holiday decor, books, cookware, hobby items, jewelry, artwork, toys and games,
Hot dogs, coffee, cold drinks and chips will be available for sale. Funds raised support the ministries of Zion.
Food pantry, plus
The Supplemental Food Resource Center, Effort UMC’s food pantry, will be open from 10 a.m.-noon Saturday.
On Oct. 4, the church will hold a flea market from 9 a.m.-2 p.m. in the pavilion.
Public Safety Day
Monroe County has planned events for Public Safety Day from 11 a.m.-4 p.m. Saturday at the Public Safety Center, 1000 Gypsum Road, Stroudsburg.
The event will include emergency responders and vehicles.
Miller-Keystone Blood Center will be holding a blood drive at the center from 8:30 a.m.-2:30 p.m.

Holistic fair
A holistic fair for Ronald McDonald Houses along with the Masonic Lodge is being held from 10 a.m.-5 p.m. Sunday, as hosted by Healing Hands at the Barger Lodge site at 2720 Rimrock Road, Stroudsburg.
The event will include vendors, practitioners, tricky tray, kids craft table and a hot tea bar. There is an admission fee.

Basket raffle
The 2025 Senior Center Basket Raffle and Bingo Fundraiser, sponsored by Support Services for Seniors, will take place from noon-2 p.m. Sunday at Blue Ridge Estate Winery on Blue Ridge Road in Saylorsburg.

Our Lady Queen of Peace Church is hosting its Community Sunday Supper at 2:30 p.m. Sunday.
Three bonfires
Our Lady Queen of Peace Church bonfires will light up the area night three times. The first one is Tuesday, to open the year’s program for the Teens for Peace high school group, from 7-8:30 p.m.
The second, for the middle school, is Oct. 1 from 5:30-6:45 p.m.
The Family Rosary Bonfire is from 6:30-5:30 p.m. Oct. 5.
Eastern Star
Monroe Chapter 99 of the Order of the Eastern Star is scheduled to hold its next meeting at 7 p.m. Oct. 1 at the Rimrock Masonic Center, 2720 Rimrock Drive, Stroudsburg.
Fall movie set
Chestnuthill Township will present a fall movie, “Lilo & Stitch,” under the stars in the park on Oct. 3 beginning at 7 p.m.

Pleasant Valley Assembly of God Church, Brodheadsville, is collecting socks, gloves, hats, canned food with peel-off lids, men’s boots, women’s boots, personal hygiene items and gas cards for its Bridge Ministries with the homeless on Oct. 4. Donations can be placed in the lobby collection bins.

Benefit pull
The Pocono Old Tyme Farm Equipment Association is having its annual Benefit Pull on Oct. 4 at the West End Fairgrounds in Gilbert. Registration will begin at 9 a.m. The pull will start at 10 a.m.
There are no trophies or prizes. All proceeds will be allocated to local Monroe County Livestock 4-H Club members.

• Zion Lutheran Church will hold its traditional pet blessing at 12:30 p.m. Oct. 5.
Environmental Day
Polk Township has created an Environmental Day to be celebrated Oct. 5, beginning at 11 a.m.
It will include food, music, a pumpkin patch, face painting, kid’s crafts, a petting zoo and cider pressing.
The event at Polk Township Walking Park in Kresgeville is scheduled to be held rain or shine.
Soup sale set
Our Lady Queen of Peace church is holding a fresh homemade soup sale after all the Masses the weekend of Oct. 4 and 5.
The fresh soups sale will benefit the NCYC youth.
Block shoot, plus
The Kunkletown Rod & Gun Club is beginning its Block Shoot & Meat Raffle events again. The public is welcome.
The first one will be held Oct. 5, starting at 11 a.m. at the club’s home at 122 Gun Club Lane in Saylorsburg. It is a 12-gauge shotgun-only event.

St. John’s Lutheran Church in Effort is holding a rummage and bake sale from 9 a.m.-3 p.m. Oct. 10 and 11.
The kitchen will be open for lunch, and baked goods will also be sold.
Night Fall festival
The Monroe County Conservation District is hosting a Friday Night Fall Festival from 6:30-8:30 p.m. Oct. 10. It will include crafts, games, nighttime adventures, a hike, s’mores and stories around the campfire.
Participants are encouraged to dress in a fall theme or wear a Halloween costume.

Rummage sale
Middlecreek Christian Church is having a rummage sale with accompanying bake table, soup for sale by the quart and bag sales, Oct. 17 and 18.
Oct. 17 hours are from 9 a.m.-2 p.m. Oct. 18 hours (with bag sale) are from 9 a.m.-noon.
The church is located at 343 Dorshimer Road, Kresgeville. Donations from the community as well as church members will be accepted on Oct. 13, noon-5:30 p.m.; Oct. 14, noon-7 p.m.; Oct. 15, noon-7 p.m.; and Oct. 16, noon-6 p.m. Nothing will be accepted after 6 p.m. Oct. 16.
No electronics, exercise equipment, luggage, large furniture or items scented from smoke or pets will be accepted.
Bird seed sale
The Kettle Creek Environmental Education Center is gearing up for its fall bird seed sale. The sale will feature Aspen Song Bird Seed blends. Also offered, through the gift shop, are Droll Yankee and other feeders.
Order deadline is Oct. 17. Call the center at 570-629-3061 to place an order over the phone or have an order form mailed. Hours are Monday to Friday from 8 a.m.-4:30 p.m. and some Saturdays from 9 a.m.-1 p.m.
