Mahoning Valley nursing center sold

The Mahoning Valley Nursing & Rehabilitation Center in Lehighton has been sold.

As of Friday, the building at 397 Hemlock Dr. was under new ownership and is now known as Mahoning Post Acute Nursing and Rehabilitation.

The sale took place on Thursday, according to Chris Rodrigues, director of human resources, who added they are owned by Outcome Healthcare.

Outcome Healthcare is comprised of health care industry thought leaders, and is a technology company that provides a complete range of services and solutions, according to its website.

Outcome Healthcare has delivered innovative, integrated solutions to the health care industry for more than 20 years, its website states.

Outcome Health care’s team has been the cornerstone to numerous health care projects including many health care data exchange projects, involving large states/provinces and entire countries, its website states.

Rodrigues said they plan to retain all 132 employees.

“We’re keeping all of our employees, and moving forward with a smooth and easy transition,” Rodrigues said. “We are looking forward to greatly improving our functioning capability under the new name Mahoning Post Acute Nursing and Rehabilitation.”

Rodrigues said Mike and Devon Mickey had been the owners of the Mahoning Valley Nursing & Rehabilitation Center at the time of the sale.

He said Devon will remain on as administrator.

Rodrigues said Mike bought the company Feb. 1, 1999, from Norman Berger, who had it since the late 1970s.

In a release sent out by Mahoning Valley Nursing and Rehabilitation Center, the group said it’s proud to announce an exciting new chapter in its history — one that builds on decades of trusted care, deep community ties, and a shared commitment to excellence.

Under new ownership, the center will now be known as Mahoning Post Acute Nursing and Rehabilitation, a name that reflects both its legacy and its future.

This transition is not a new beginning, but a continuation of everything Mahoning has always stood for. The center remains rooted in the same mission: delivering compassionate care, clinical excellence, and meaningful connection for residents, families, staff, and the broader Mahoning Valley community.

What makes this transition especially meaningful is the continuity of leadership. The current administrator, the son of the previous owner, will remain in his role, ensuring that the heart and values of Mahoning continue on seamlessly. This partnership between past and present reflects a shared dedication to both honoring the history of the center and embracing the opportunities ahead.

“At Mahoning, caring for our residents has always been about more than just health care — it’s about creating a true home filled with dignity, respect, and support,” said the leadership team. “Whether through long-term care or short-term rehabilitation, we remain committed to delivering the same high-quality, personalized care that our residents and families have come to rely on.”

The new ownership brings fresh energy, resources, and decades of expertise to the table.

“We are proud to be a third-generation, family-owned company with over 80 years of experience in the health care field. With a long-standing commitment to excellence, we are dedicated to investing in Mahoning, supporting its team, and upholding the highest standards of clinical care.

“Beyond providing exceptional care within our walls, we are deeply committed to being active and supportive partners in the Mahoning community. Our passion for creating warm, supportive environments — where residents are treated like family — aligns perfectly with the values that Mahoning has always stood for, and we are excited to continue this legacy together.”

This unified team — past and present — is excited to move forward with gratitude for the foundation that has been built and great enthusiasm for the road ahead.

Together, they look forward to making great strides in care, service, and community impact.

He noted that Mahoning Post Acute Nursing and Rehabilitation is always looking for prospective residents.

“We’ll maintain our high standard of care here,” Rodrigues said. “We’re here to be available for our community.”

Rodrigues said anyone interested in becoming a resident at Mahoning Post Acute Nursing and Rehabilitation may call 570-386-5522.
