Some campsites at Locust Lake to open Monday

A number of campsites at Locust Lake State Park will open on Monday.

The park in Barnesville hadn’t been open to camping all year due to ongoing rehabilitation projects.

But beginning Monday, sites 89-213 will be available for reservations, according to an announcement from the park.

The remaining campsites will stay closed for public safety as work continues.

Two shower houses are being replaced at the park, and several electric sites are being upgraded to include full hookup services.

Campers should expect to hear construction noise as crews work to finish the new campsites and bathhouses, the park noted.

Furthermore, visitors should obey all signs and not enter into active construction areas.

As construction progresses, additional sites may open before the conclusion of the 2025 season.

Despite the work, the park has remained opened for hiking, fishing, boating, swimming and other activities.
