WASD to write off over $8,600 owed Unpaid amount includes laptop damage, lunch bills
The Weatherly Area School Board voted this week to approve a balance write off of uncollectible receivables from June 30, 2021-2024 in the amount of $7,225.08.
The money was for students who owed for damage to laptops and chargers, etc.
The school also voted to approve the lunch balance write off in the amount of $1,451.65 to account for uncollectible balances on graduated students.
Officials said during an audit of district finances, it was recommended the district remove those off the books and keep up with it on an annual basis.
In other business, the school board:
• Voted to approve the following substitute list for the 2025-2026 school year: teachers at $130 a day, Lorrie Chilinkas, Lilli Kunkle, Louise Miller, David Novitsky, Christian Ormistonm, Dianne Paisley, Linda Roskos, Billie Jo Steward, and Kurt Vernarec; nurses at $130 a day, Paula Gregory, Katie Hall, Lindsey Rolland and Donna Thomas; and staff support at $13 an hour, Kim Kuzma, Jessica Moyer and Lindsey Rolland.
• Voted to approve the following 2025-2026 advisors: athletic director Scott Zoscin, $8,292.74; HS/MS band director Dan Derflinger, $5,881.14; elementary band director Donald Trenn, $2,264.54; ELM/MS chorus directors Donald Trenn and Dan Derflinger, $3,220.79 (split); Kindness Club/The Closet Bobbi Ann Kufro, $1,089.57; Yearbook advisor Tracy Earhart, $2,722.87; Memory Book advisor Krystal Singley, $1,361.45; FBLA advisor Janet Gettig, $2,022.62; Senior Class advisors Christy Minor and Amanda Saldukas, $1,270.81 (split); Junior Class advisors Laura Jacoby and Becky Miller, $1,270.81 (split); Sophomore Class advisors Brenda Esposito and Crystal Mayernick, $616.90 (split); Freshman Class advisors Michele Antolick and Tracy Andrukaitis, $616.90 (split).
