Summit Hill woman faces assault, burglary charges

A Summit Hill woman faces multiple charges after attempting to enter an apartment building from which she had been evicted, assaulting a woman and resisting arrest.

Siobhan Carrasso, 63, was charged with burglary, simple assault, resisting arrest, defiant trespass, disorderly conduct, possession of a controlled substance and paraphernalia and harassment.

She was arraigned by District Judge Eric Schantz, who set bail at $7,500, and she was remanded to the Carbon County Correctional Facility in Nesquehoning.

According to court papers, Summit Hill police responded to a report of an assault and person trespassing at 128 W. Hazard St. The landlord said that Carrasso was evicted Aug. 12, and attempted to enter the building.

The landlord found Carrasso inside the vestibule of the building. The landlord attempted to block her entering and Carrasso scratched her face, knocking off her glasses, court paper said.

Carrasso also yelled and screamed outside, and then pushed the officer who told her to cease, court papers said. The officer spoke to the landlords again and obtained information on how Carrasso could obtain her belongings.

Carrasso began screaming that she was going back into the apartment, and the officer attempted to place her under arrest. Carrasso began screaming and resisting the officer, before being placed in custody.

At the Summit Hill Police Department, a Lansford police officer placed her into a holding cell, and noticed something fall to the ground, which Carrasso attempted to kick it under a bench, court papers said.

The object was a yellow plastic container with a clear bottle containing a substance believed to be methamphetamine, two straws with residue and a razor blade.

Summit Hill police had received multiple calls about Carrasso attempting to gain access to the building and harassing the landlord.
