West Penn Township supervisors recently gave conditional approval to the final plan for a large solar farm.
Supervisors had tabled the vote on the Ridge Road Solar Land Development in July.
The project calls for approximately 33,000 solar panels on 79 acres near the intersection of Ridge Road and Ash Circle.
When supervisors tabled the vote last month, they were looking for a decommissioning plan from the developer. It has since been submitted.
Supervisors also requested a land development agreement and stormwater management agreement, and those, too, have been submitted.
Furthermore, the plans were reviewed by the township engineer and Schuylkill County planners.
Supervisors voted unanimously to approve the final plan.
In an unrelated matter, it was noted that the West Penn Fire Department’s 2012 Ford 150 was sold on Municibid for $7,000. The original asking price was $3,500.
Also, supervisors approved lending money to the fire department after it incurred an unexpected approximate $8,000 bill due to a failed well.
The company had asked the township to pay the bill but after some discussion, supervisors agreed to a 4-year loan with no interest.
