Tamaqua Chamber seeks nominations for citizenship award
The Tamaqua Area Chamber of Commerce is accepting nominations for the Joseph Plasko Citizenship Award, an annual honor that recognizes an outstanding person who has made a meaningful impact through voluntary service in the Tamaqua community.
The award will be presented at the Chamber’s 61st Annual Dinner on Oct. 2 at Mountain Valley Golf Course.
Named in memory of longtime journalist and community advocate Joseph Plasko, the award honors individuals age 18 or older who reside in the Tamaqua Area School District and demonstrate an exceptional commitment to civic involvement, volunteerism and community betterment.
“The Joseph Plasko Citizenship Award is one of the most meaningful recognitions we present each year,” said Aimee Dotson, executive director of the Chamber. “It celebrates the spirit of community service that Joe embodied every day.
“We encourage residents to nominate someone who gives generously of their time and talents to help others and make Tamaqua a stronger, more connected community.”
The eligibility requirements are:
• Nominees must be 18 or older and reside in the Tamaqua Area School District.
• Nominees should have a strong record of voluntary service that contributes to the civic progress and well-being of the Tamaqua area.
• The award is intended for living recipients; however, if a nominee passes before the ceremony, they may still be considered for special recognition.
Nomination forms are available at https://tamaqua.net/annual-awards.
Completed nominations must be received by Aug. 22 and may be submitted by mail to Award Committee, Tamaqua Area Chamber of Commerce, P.O. Box 54, Tamaqua, PA 18252, or to chamber@tamaqua.net.
