Polk FD getting tanker
The Polk Township Volunteer Fire Company’s 1993 Pierce Pumper/Tanker was sold to the Sharon Grove Volunteer Fire Company in Sharon Grove, Kentucky.
The 2010 International Pierce Tanker is nearing completion and expected in a few weeks.
The fire company reported the sale at the July board of supervisors meeting.
The company responded to 17 emergencies for the month of June. They completed 279 hours of training and participated in 31 hours of fundraising.
As of the meeting, volunteers responded to 21 emergencies for July, with a year-to-date total of 147 emergency responses.
The company had three members test for firefighter and two for state certification. Results are expected soon.

In other business:
• Two properties in the township will be taken to the magistrate due to zoning violations.
• The Parks Department came up with a Code of Conduct for the astronomy club. They will hold their Environmental Day on Oct. 5 from 11 a.m. to 3 p.m.
• Conditional approval was given to Camp Trexler for their lodging land development plan. They plan to replace tents with four living quarters for counselors.
• Camp Harlem told the board they plan to add pedestrian walkways and stop signs.
• The final subdivision for Bryan Baumgartner was sent to planning. The Schoenberger subdivision was tabled.
• Employee Matthew Fryaoff’s 90-day probationary period is over.
• A zoning hearing for schedule of use for self storage will be held at 6:15 p.m. Aug. 25.
