Two Lansford playgrounds have new inclusive swings thanks to two donations to the Friends of Lansford Recreation.
Trinity Lutheran Church donated $955.98 — the cost of two adaptive swings — for Ashton Hill Park and the East End Playground, said Gwyneth Collevechio, treasurer of the nonprofit Friends group.
She explained that a representative from the state Department of Conservation and Natural Resources visited the park and suggested adding more inclusive play areas and equipment.
Trinity Lutheran’s church council stepped forward with a donation, and another unnamed donor contributed $250 to cover any additional costs such as shipping, Collevechio said.
The swings are designed for children up to age 12, and include a headrest for youngsters who might not be able to hold up their heads.
