Get ready for fair food and family fun

The smell of fair food and the sound of family fun filling the air is just around the corner, and so are fan favorites and new performances coming to the midway in August.

The Carbon County Fair will feature new and returning acts and vendors, such as Goodtime Amusements, the Monster Truck Bash and the Junk Car Race.

On Monday and Tuesday, Aug. 4 and Aug. 5, the Monster Truck Bash roars through the arena at 7 p.m. Featuring an action-packed performance with professional Monster Truck drivers.

Tickets are required for the show, starting at $10 for kids 3 and older, and $17.82 for adults and teens. Gates for the show open at 5 p.m. and the pre-show bash will take place from 5:30 to 6:30 p.m.

The show includes appearances from nationally recognized monsters, including Godzilla, Amped Up and Rescue Racer.

On Wednesday, Aug. 6, the Junk Car Race will take over the arena. The new Demo Derby event will be featured on Thursday.

On Friday, Aug. 8, rocking the Main Stage is the award-winning retro cover band M-80. The band is sponsored by Goodtime Amusements and will be performing at 6:30 p.m. and 8:30 p.m.

Friday night will also see performances from the Palmerton Area High School Marching Band and the Lehighton Area High School Marching Band in the arena at 5:30 and 6 p.m.

Goodtime Amusements will be returning to the fair after a one-year hiatus. With the return, the family-owned amusement company will bring a variety of rides, games and concessions.

Amusement will be open from 5 to 10 p.m. on weekdays, and 2 to 10 p.m. on Saturdays, and will cost $25 per rider. Tuesday is Children’s Day, offering a discounted ride fare of $20 per rider.

Food is always an attraction. Several Lions clubs and other nonprofits will be serving up sandwiches and sides.

When it’s time for dessert you can head over to the Lions’ stand for waffles and ice cream, or check out the Elephant Ears stand for sweet dough and toppings.

The fair is located at 3285 Little Gap Road, Palmerton.
