Boston Bachert offers a little magic, more
Circus tricks, stunts and illusions are just part of what Boston Bachert will be juggling at the Carbon County Fair.
Performing in the business for more than eight years now, Bachert is not your average trickster.
The young juggler started at age 15 when he worked at the Magic Theatre in Lancaster. After learning from the magicians around him, he now tours the nation performing on numerous stages.
“I always enjoyed performing, I always enjoyed doing tricks,” Bachert said. “So whenever I kind of fell into the world of magic and juggling, it wasn’t exactly something I sought out. But I realized that it was a cool combination of stuff I’ve always been passionate about.”
As a performer, Bachert wants to stand out from other magicians and jugglers, something he does by combining both practices into one grand show.
“Some performers specialize in magic, some specialize in only juggling or maybe only circus stunts,” he said. “I do a mixture of all three. I try to bring as much variety as possible with one-of-a-kind tricks.”
Bachert will be performing at the midway for two shows during the week, and three shows on Saturday. His shows will include a lineup of tricks and stunts, including his personal favorite, the “Cyr Wheel.”
Audience members can even expect to assist in some of the trickery.
“You might see me ride around in a big wheel or throw around a big cube,” Bachert said. “I describe it as a one-of-a-kind show with a bunch of stuff that you may have and haven’t seen before.
“I also invite the audience to be a part of the show, which is a lot of fun.”
Based in Lebanon, Bachert travels to shows across the country. Most recently, he was at the Totem Pole Playhouse theater on July 29 in Fayetteville, Pennsylvania.
