A Carbon County man has the distinction of being “Pennsylvania’s Outstanding Conservation Farmer of the Year.”

William Gregory of Cloverdale Farms, Inc., Weatherly R.2, holds that coveted honor, according to the Carbon County Conservation District.

Paul S. Balliet, Lehighton, chairman of the district committee, announced the award during a recent meeting held in Jim Thorpe.

In his nomination of Gregory, Balliet said the farmer has been a strong supporter of conservation district activities and has been a leader in practicing and promoting the use of soil and water conservation practices in the county.

Supporting nomination documents for Gregory were provided by Ray W. Reitz, director of the county’s Extension Service, the county commissioners and the county’s Agricultural Stabilization Committee.
