Baskets and Berries
A Baskets and Berries Bonanza will be held from noon-5 p.m. Sunday at Zions Stone Church in the village of Snyders. The fundraiser will feature ice cream and waffles. All types of berries will be available as toppings. A basket raffle will be held. All are invited.
Back to School bash
Taco Bell in Hometown will hold a Back to School Bash from 2-5 p.m. on Aug. 10 with a bingo beginning at 4 p.m.
The event will feature food, fun and prizes. There will be a prize wheel, raffle and cornhole. Bingo prizes include fully loaded backpacks with school supplies for students in second to eighth grades.
There is limited seating for bingo, and entries for the games will be accepted until 11:50 p.m. on Aug. 2. On Aug. 3, employees will randomly pick 50 participants. Winners will be notified by email. Visit the 60 Plaza Drive restaurant for information on entering.
Calvary Lewistown
Pastor Deb Rogers will share a message of “A Call to Follow Jesus” with readings from the Old and New Testaments at the 11 a.m. Sunday worship service of Calvary Evangelical Church at the Lewistown Valley Tabernacle, 614 Valley Road. There will be special music. All are invited.
Sunday school is at 9:45 a.m., and the Sunday evening worship and service is at 7 p.m.
At 7 p.m. Saturday, there will be a Kent gospel service by the Riven Quartet at the Auburn Camp Association, Third Street, Auburn.
The Schuylkill County Fair’s Gospel Night will be Wednesday at the fairgrounds in Summit Station, with gospel music at 7 and 9 p.m. by the Jack and Davis Reid, grandchildren of the Statler Brothers.
Calvary Evangelical will have no prayer and share on Wednesday due to the gospel performances.
St. Peter’s - West Penn
The 10 a.m. Sunday service for St. Peter’s Church in West Penn Township will be held outdoors at West Penn Park.
The Aug. 3 service will have the Sacrament of Holy Communion.
Tamaqua Seniors
The Tamaqua Senior Citizens met on July 17 with 22 members present.
President Jean Machamer opened the meeting and the invocation, “Give God Control,” was read.
One member was added to the sick list.
The group meets at 1 p.m. Thursdays at the Coaldale Complex. Anyone 55 and older is invited.
Rush-Ryan-Delano Seniors
The Rush, Ryan and Delano Senior Citizens met July 22 at Christ Church in Barnesville.
There were 29 members present. Robert Neifert opened the meeting with a reading of the Lord’s Prayer, the Pledge of Allegiance and one verse of “God Bless America.” There were no minutes or treasurer’s report since the group had its picnic July 8 catered by Hess Catering. The picnic was enjoyed by all.
It was noted that Jeremy Goodling Christian Music Ministry will perform at Christ Church at 11:15 a.m. Oct. 5. All are invited.
There will only be doughnuts for August and September meetings. The group was reminded to not put liquid in the garbage.
